Opened in 1996, the Tallahassee Automobile Museum was founded by DeVoe Moore to share his passion for automobiles, which he views as works of art. Originally starting with just 15 cars, the museum has grown into a 100,000-square-foot nonprofit facility featuring two floors of mostly American classic cars and a large collection of Americana.
The museum operates as a 501(c)(3) educational organization, using admission and donations to preserve its collections. In 1999, it was named the top museum in the U.S. for antique car preservation by the AACA. The current location, opened in 2007, also includes large event and meeting spaces and was designed as a “green” building to support sustainable practices for future generations.
